Call for Abstracts Guidelines

The Program Committee invites abstract submissions for platform and poster presentations. To submit your abstract, please complete the online form by May 22, 2008. The principal author will be notified of the outcome of the submission by July 11, 2008.

Questions about the abstract submission process should be directed to conferences@cihi.ca .

Submission Format

All submissions should be sent electronically via the conference website. If you require an alternative to electronic submission, please write to conferences@cihi.ca.

Presentation Format

Platform presentations
Platform presentations will form the concurrent sessions for the various Program Topic Areas. Presentations should be 20 minutes in length followed by a 10 minute question period moderated by a session chair.

Note: Abstracts that are not accepted for a platform presentation may be considered for a poster presentation.

Poster presentations
Poster sessions will allow for networking and additional opportunities to illustrate data in use related to the Program Topic Areas. Presenters should be available to speak to their poster during the allocated time slots.

Selection Criteria

The following selection criteria will be used to review all abstracts:

  1. The abstract is written concisely with a clear statement of purpose.
  2. The abstract is relevant to the conference theme and one or more program topic areas.
  3. The abstract has sufficient detail explaining context for the work, method/approach and evaluation of results/outcomes.
  4. New and innovative work is presented.
  5. Strengths and areas for improvement in the work are highlighted.
  6. Suggestions for further work are made.
  7. The abstract adds new insights and/or knowledge.
  8. The abstract would be of interest to a diverse Canadian audience.

Conference Attendance and Registration

Speakers whose abstracts have been accepted for presentation are requested to submit a registration form for the conference. Registration, travel and accommodation for accepted presentations (platform or poster) are at the responsibility of presenters.
