Presentation Format

The abstract needs to fit into one the two program tracks 1) Tools and Frameworks or 2) Importance of Data for Health Policy, Planning and Decision Making and one of four session topics as they relate to the overall conference theme of Understanding Health Outcomes.  Abstracts will also consider under the topic area of “emerging issues”.

Abstracts can be submitted for either oral presentation as part of a concurrent session or for poster presentation.  Abstracts that are not accepted for a oral presentation may be considered for a poster.

Abstracts can be submitted and presented in either English or French. 

Oral Presentations

Concurrent sessions, with groups of speakers chosen based on abstract submissions, will be organized for each of the session topic areas. Oral presentations will be 15 to 20 minutes in length followed by a 5-minute question period. The sessions will be moderated by a session chair.

Poster Presentations

Poster presentation sessions will be held at the beginning and end of each day and during break times. For those posters that are accepted for presentation, an author for the poster is expected to be present during poster viewing sessions in order to answer questions. All materials must be provided and prepared in advance by the author as materials for these purposes will not be available at the site. Details about poster specifics will be provided.

Selection Criteria

The following selection criteria will be used to review all abstracts:

  1. The abstract is relevant to the conference theme and one of the program tracks and one of the session topics.
  2. The abstract is written concisely with a clear objective/statement of purpose.
  3. The abstract has sufficient detail explaining the context for the work, the method/project design and evaluation of results/outcomes.
  4. The abstract adds new insights and/or knowledge - new and innovative work is presented. The abstract reflects a body of completed work.
  5. Consent to include the author’s name and abstract details have been indicated.

Conference Attendance and Registration

All conference attendees, including those invited to participate as oral or poster presenters must register for the conference using the online registration form and be responsible for their own travel and accommodation arrangements.
